Florida offers exciting opportunities for aspiring dental assistants! Here’s what you need to know:Formal Training for Expanded Functions: To perform expanded duties in Florida, you must receive formal training in those specific procedures. There are two options:
- Complete a CODA-Accredited Program: Graduate from a dental, dental hygiene, or dental assisting program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) that incorporates expanded function training within their curriculum.
- Complete a Florida Board-Approved Program: Alternatively, you can complete a separate Florida Board-approved Expanded Duties Formal Training Program.
